Taxation of Individuals (CTA Awareness)
The objective of the Awareness paper is to examine core areas of the various taxes which you may not deal with on a daily basis and which do not form part of your chosen Advanced Technical papers.

Learn the skills needed to apply the knowledge gained in sitting the Advanced Technical (formerly Advisory) Taxation of Individuals paper and the Awareness paper to a practical case study, and to demonstrate how the various taxes interact. You’ll learn how to interpret and explain complex tax matters and to provide relevant advice to a client. You’ll also gain an understanding of the presentation and writing skills needed to achieve the higher skills marks awarded in this paper.
Must be over 18 years at the time of application and who have previously achieved a level 3 qualification. There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification, but as a learner you will be ideally to be working with an organisation or role where they can demonstrate skills and apply knowledge. Alternatively, you could draw on previous experience within an organisation or use an organisation you are familiar with.
- IELTS minimum 5.0- 6.5 overall with no fail.
- Pass 5 GCSE subjects or equivelant
Who have demonstrated some ability and possess Qualifications at Level 3, for example ‘A’ Levels or vocational awards.
There are no entry requirements to commence the CTA qualification. However the CIOT strongly recommend those without an accounting or law qualification register for the ATT-CTA tax pathway route to qualification.
To join the ACA CTA joint programme, you’ll need to register as an ACA student first. When you get your ACA student number, you will be able to register with the CIOT.
